School history books teach us that the Lewis and Clark expedition began in St. Louis Missouri. That's not exactly correct. From this point on the north side of the Ohio River, opposite Louisville, the Voyage of Discovery - better known as the Lewis and Clark Expedition - launched on October 26, 1803. With the two explorers were "nine young men from Kentucky" who, along with Clark's personal slave, York, formed the nucleus of the expedition. The remainder joined the expedition in St. Louis. Lewis and Clark returned here in November 1806 at the completion of the expedition. That made sense because William Clark was the younger brother of the founder of the city of Louisville, George Rogers Clark.
While I have participated in a number of photo genres, my principal focuses are sports and travel. My sports photos range from juniors to Division I college. Most of my travel photos currently are from the US midwest and northwest. I also feature a number of photos from my travels in Europe. Although I dabbled in photography a bit in high school, I really didn't get significantly involved until about eight years ago. Since that time, however, I have formed a real love of making photos. My transition to sports photography was helped after the pandemic forced the sports administration department of the university where I taught to lay off several photographers.
